Remembering the Shoah on TikTok – Introduction & Educational Resources
Die Gedenk- und Bildungsstätte Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz ist, so wie viele weitere Gedenkstätten und Erinnerungsorte, Teil der TikTok Shoah Commemoration & Education Initiative. Nun soll eine Plattform entstehen, welche den internationalen Content sammelt und für Lehrende zugänglich macht.
The House of the Wannsee Conference Memorial and Educational Site, like many other memorials and places of remembrance, is part of the TikTok Shoah Commemoration & Education Initiative. Now a platform is to be created that collects the international content and makes it accessible to teachers.
Für die Jugend von heute ist TikTok nicht nur eine Plattform für Unterhaltung, sondern zunehmend auch eine wichtige Informationsquelle. In diesem Zusammenhang hat die TikTok Shoah Commemoration & Education Initiative, eine gemeinsame Anstrengung von über zwanzig Holocaust-Gedenkstätten in der ganzen Welt, mit akademischer Unterstützung der Hebräischen Universität in Jerusalem Hunderte von TikTok-Videos erstellt, die in einem pädagogischen Kontext verwendet werden können, um über die Shoah zu unterrichten. Anlässlich des Internationalen Holocaust-Gedenktags 2024 bietet dieser Zusammenschluss an Gedenkstätten eine virtuelle Gedenk- und Informationsveranstaltung an, um Lehrkräfte mit diesen Inhalten vertraut zu machen und ihnen zu zeigen, wie sie in einem pädagogischen Kontext eingesetzt werden können.

For today’s youth, TikTok is not only a platform for entertainment, but increasingly also an important source of information. In this context, the TikTok Shoah Commemoration & Education initiative, a collaborative effort of over twenty Holocaust Memorial Sites throughout the world with academic support from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, has created hundreds of TikTok videos that can and are being used in an educational context to teach about the Shoah. On the occasion of International Holocaust Commemoration Day 2024, we will be offering a virtual memorial training event to introduce teachers and educators to this content and how it can be used in an educational context.
